We are working with a small but growing architectural practice, who pride themselves in creating innovative designs for a range of projects both commercial and residential (new builds, extensions, house renovations and loft conversions). Now seeking a Design Manager to manage a small team working on the residential projects, from small extensions to complete new build developments.
Are you:
- Experienced in management and/or leading a small team within an Architectural Practice or Design Consultancy
- Able to produce your own drawing packages (planning packages and working drawings)
- Possessing good communication skills to liaise with clients and other stakeholders
- Experienced in using AutoCAD
- Committed to quality work, both for yourself and your team
- Familiar with the requirements for residential projects
- Good time manager
The Design Manager role will involve:
- Running a small team of Technicians and Designers as well as producing your own drawing packages
- Marking up schemes for your team to draw up and checking for accuracy before sign-off and issuing to client
- Carrying out site surveys
- Liaising closely with clients and other stakeholders (eg Case Officers, Building Control, Contractors etc)
In addition to a salary commensurate with experience, you will also have your own office, laptop and mobile and use of a pool car for site visits/meetings. Our client prides themselves on their relaxed and fun working atmosphere – you spend so much time at work they want you to enjoy being there. Although they would prefer you to be office-based all five days, they can accommodate one day per week working from home if required. There may also be some flexibility for start-finish times – usual office hours are 8.30-5.
This is a long term role with clear progression if you’re the right candidate – potentially to rise to Director level. This is for a start asap so interviews are likely to be arranged very quickly.
