Job Title: Operations Manager / Contracts Manager (Structural Steel)
Location: South West Salary: £60,000£70,000 per annum
An established structural steel contractor is seeking an Operations Manager / Contracts Manager to lead project delivery functions across the business. Following the resignation of a senior operational leader, the company requires an experienced manager to oversee Project Managers, site teams and project performance. This role would suit an individual with a strong background in structural steel or the wider steel industry and proven experience leading project teams within a construction or engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the project management and site delivery teams
- Oversee the successful delivery of multiple projects across the business
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to Project Managers
- Monitor project performance, resources and operational efficiency
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget
- Build strong working relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Support strategic planning and operational decision-making
- Drive continuous improvement across project delivery processes
Experience Required:
- Experience within the structural steel or steel industry
- Proven leadership experience managing Project Managers or project delivery teams
- Strong people management and team development skills
- Track record of overseeing multiple concurrent projects
- Solid understanding of construction project delivery and operations
- Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and performance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lead teams and maintain high operational standards
Desirable:
- Previous experience as an Operations Manager or Contracts Manager
- Experience managing large project portfolios
- Background in structural steel fabrication, installation or contracting
- Relevant management or construction qualifications
