Technical Sales Manager now required to join a National Steelwork Sub-Contractor turning over in excess of £5m per year.

Wth a new fabrication facility opening in the East Midlands, this is a great chance to join a premier fast growing business.

They have a highly skilled team of TEKLA BIM Draftsmen, fabrication facility, and experienced, in-house site erection labour. This end-to-end capability ensures they maintain total quality control, competitive pricing, and reliable delivery programmes across the UK.

The Role:

Now looking to hire a new, experienced, self-motivated Technical Sales Estimator / Business Development Manager to join the team and drive growth.

This hybrid role bridges proactive business development and technical estimation.

Your focus will be to generate new enquiries and secure profitable tender wins.

You will focus specifically on building relationships with main contractors and developers, targeting projects involving:

  • Structural Steelwork. (ideal schemes are 10-20 ton projects).
  • Architectural Metalwork (including feature staircases, balustrades, canopies, and balconies).

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Actively identify, target, and open doors with new commercial clients, main contractors, and project managers to secure incoming tender opportunities.
  • Tender Estimation: Review architectural and structural drawings to calculate accurate structural steel tonnages, material costs, fabrication hours, and site erection requirements.
  • Client Management: Serve as the technical point of contact for clients throughout the pre-construction phase, handling mid-bid clarifications and post-tender negotiations.

About You:

  • Recent track record of working within structural steelwork or architectural metalwork contracting in a sales, business development, or estimating capacity.
  • Ability to confidently read, interpret, and take off quantities from engineering and architectural drawings.
  • A natural relationship builder with a hunter mindset, comfortable generating your own leads and driving enquiries from scratch.
  • Strong understanding of profit margins, risk mitigation, and standard UK construction procurement processes.
  • Microsoft Word / Excel / Outlook.
