Join a growing division of a well-established business, part of a FTSE 100 company, undergoing significant investment with new machinery and modernised production facilities. This is an opportunity to take a hands-on role leading a small team of specialist Operatives, driving output, quality and safety while supporting ongoing growth. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the site meets demanding productivity targets and customer expectations.

About the Role:
As Production Supervisor, you will oversee day-to-day production activities on alternating early and late shifts, ensuring manufacturing processes run safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. You will coordinate people, materials and machinery to meet production schedules, optimise performance and minimise downtime. Working closely with senior management, you’ll provide clear performance data and operational insight to support continuous improvement and future investment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate and manage a small production team on shift, providing clear direction, coaching and performance feedback.
  • Plan and schedule daily and weekly production activities to meet output targets and customer delivery requirements.
  • Monitor production performance against KPIs, identifying issues and implementing corrective actions to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety procedures, conducting regular checks and promoting a strong safety culture on the shop floor.
  • Oversee quality control and assurance activities, addressing any non-conformances promptly.
  • Coordinate resource allocation across machines and lines, optimising labour, materials and equipment utilisation to control costs.
  • Supervise the operation of manufacturing machinery and equipment, ensuring correct set-up, safe use and timely maintenance escalation.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate production reports, highlighting performance trends, downtime causes and improvement opportunities.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a production supervisory or team leader role within a timber manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and practical understanding of Category G and BS EN 14250 standards.
  • Strong leadership and team supervisory skills, with the ability to drive performance and maintain high engagement levels.
  • Demonstrable experience of production planning and scheduling in a fast-paced, output-focused operation.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety compliance in a manufacturing setting, with practical experience enforcing safe working practices.
  • Hands-on experience with quality control and assurance processes, particularly in relation to timber or similar materials.
  • Competence in performance monitoring and reporting, including use of KPIs and basic data analysis.
  • Experience managing resource allocation and cost control within a production area.
  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment, with the ability to troubleshoot operational issues.
