Job Title: Estimator
Location: Manchester
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance + Package!
Sector: Construction / Specialist Sub-Contractor
We are working with a growing, specialist construction business to recruit an Estimator. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator who enjoys the detail of tendering but is also keen to develop into a more commercial, client-facing or strategic preconstruction role over time.
You’ll play a key role in supporting the full bid and tender process, working closely with internal teams and external clients to deliver accurate, competitive and high-quality estimates.
As Estimator you will:
- Support and manage multiple tenders and bid processes simultaneously
- Prepare accurate estimates and quotations using estimating software
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical procedures
- Understand construction sequencing and operational delivery on site
- Maintain accurate data using CRM and data management systems
- Liaise with clients via email, phone and face-to-face meetings
- Chase tender progress and provide excellent customer service throughout
- Collaborate closely with commercial, operational and preconstruction teams
You will already have:
- Proven experience in tendering and bid processes
- Strong numerical and mathematical ability
- Experience using estimating software
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
- Understanding of construction sequencing and site operations
- High attention to detail and strong administrative skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrable success managing multiple bids/tenders
- Education to A-Level standard or equivalent
It would be great if you also have:
- Experience with Conquest estimating software
- Knowledge of drylining, SFS, Metframe or similar technical products
- Awareness of prelims, construction programming and contracts
- Understanding of construction cost build-up and commercial principles
- Construction-related qualification (HNC or above)
- Membership of a professional body (RICS, CIOB)
