A well-established manufacturer of timber frame and engineered wood products is seeking a Timber Designer to support increasing project demand across residential builds, self-build projects and larger developments. This role covers the design of timber frame wall panels as well as roof truss and floor systems, working closely with production teams, engineers and clients to deliver accurate and compliant designs. It would suit candidates with experience in either timber frame or roof truss design, or technically minded individuals looking to develop within a growing sector offering structured progression. 

As a Timber Designer you will:

  • Design timber frame wall panels, roof truss and floor systems in line with project specifications
  • Produce accurate technical drawings and manufacturing outputs
  • Interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications and standards
  • Ensure designs meet structural, safety and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare outputs to support manufacturing processes, including CNC where applicable
  • Liaise with clients, engineers and internal teams to resolve design queries
  • Support project delivery through effective communication and coordination
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design and production processes

Experience Required:

  • Experience in timber frame design, roof truss design, or a similar structural design role
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or relevant design software
  • Ability to read and interpret technical construction drawings
  • Strong understanding of structural design principles and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of building regulations and compliance standards
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work on-site full-time

Desirable:

  • Experience with truss design software (e.g. Gang-Nail or similar)
  • Knowledge of timber frame manufacturing or panel systems
  • Understanding of load calculations and structural requirements
  • Experience preparing CNC files for production
