UK Talent and Australian Demand: What Our Latest Poll Tells Us

UK Talent and Australian Demand: What Our Latest Poll Tells Us

A recent LinkedIn poll we ran produced a very interesting result. Almost three quarters of respondents said they would either relocate to Australia or would potentially consider it.

For Australian employers in offsite construction, that is a strong signal that skilled UK professionals are open to the right opportunity.

At ARV Solutions, we work closely with businesses and individuals across offsite construction, timber frame, modular building and wider modern methods of construction. The poll results reflect what we are seeing more broadly. There is a growing alignment between UK capability and Australian demand.

What the Poll Told Us

We asked a simple question, based on a live client requirement:

Would you relocate to Australia for a new job?

The response was clear:

  • 44% said yes, let me know of roles
  • 29% said potentially
  • 11% said now is not the right time
  • 14% said never

That means almost three quarters of respondents are open, or potentially open, to relocating to Australia for the right opportunity.

This is more than general interest. It shows that a large proportion of experienced professionals are thinking seriously about international opportunities when the right role and support are in place.

Australia’s Skills Shortage in Offsite Construction

Skills shortages remain a key challenge across Australia’s offsite construction and MMC sectors.

Businesses are under pressure to scale manufacturing, improve delivery and strengthen leadership teams. At the same time, the local talent pool often cannot meet demand, particularly for specialist and senior roles.

As a result, employers are competing for the same limited group of candidates. This impacts growth, slows projects and makes long term workforce planning more difficult.

Why UK Talent Is Part of the Solution

The UK has a strong pipeline of experienced professionals in offsite construction, modular and timber frame. Many bring transferable skills across design, manufacturing, operations, construction and project delivery.

Importantly, a large proportion of this workforce is open to international opportunities, as shown in our poll.

From a recruitment perspective, this creates a clear opportunity. Employers can access a broader talent pool while candidates gain exposure to new markets and career progression.

A Practical Approach to Hiring Internationally

We have recruited for the Australian market throughout our 23 years in business across all our sectors.

International recruitment requires a clear and structured approach. It starts with understanding the skills gap, assessing where UK talent can add value, and positioning opportunities in a way that attracts the right people. And most importantly the candidates (and potentially their families) are serious about this life-changing move.

Success depends on clear expectations, strong communication and a realistic view of the process. When done well, hiring from the UK can help Australian businesses strengthen teams, improve performance and support growth.

Start the conversation

The insight is clear. Australia needs skills. UK professionals are open to new opportunities.
