Sales Estimator – Steel Fabrication

Location: Gloucestershire (Hybrid working)
Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 + benefits

Are you an Estimator who enjoys the commercial and client-facing side of the role? Or a technically minded Sales professional who likes getting involved in pricing and winning work?

This is an opportunity to join a well-established and growing steel fabrication business working across rail, highways, telecoms and wider UK infrastructure projects. With a strong order book and long-term client relationships, the business is now looking for a Sales Estimator to support continued growth.

This role offers a hybrid split between estimating, client engagement and work-winning — ideal for someone who wants variety, autonomy and progression rather than being stuck behind a desk.

The Role

You’ll be involved from first enquiry through to quotation and handover, working closely with engineering, fabrication and senior leadership teams to ensure commercially sound and deliverable bids.

Rather than a siloed estimating role, you’ll have visibility across the business and the chance to genuinely influence outcomes.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Preparing accurate and competitive quotations for steel fabrication projects
  • Managing enquiries from initial contact through to handover
  • Working closely with engineering and production teams to ensure realistic pricing and scope
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Supporting business development and repeat work across infrastructure sectors
  • Contributing to improvements in estimating tools, processes and customer engagement
  • Attending client meetings when required (no constant travel)

About You

We’re open-minded on background and would encourage applications from candidates with experience in any of the following:

  • Steel fabrication, structural steel or metalwork
  • Rail, highways, infrastructure, construction or engineering
  • Estimating, sales engineering, commercial or technical sales roles

You’ll likely have:

  • Experience producing estimates or quotations in a technical environment
  • A commercially aware mindset with good attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with clients
  • Competence with Excel (experience with ERP/CRM systems beneficial but not essential)
  • The ability to balance accuracy with relationship-building

Key Skills: Estimator, Sales, Quotes, Tendering, Rail, Infrastructure, Highways, Steel Fabrication, MS Excel, Business Development

This employer is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, or age.
