The Company

Specialising in improving the certainty of complex and large-scale construction and engineering projects through their design and engineering stages. This company utilises their experience and proven, highly effective tools and techniques to achieve success. They have a strong pipeline of prestigious projects with many of the industry’s leading players.

The Role

As an experienced Planning Consultant you will support clients to devise and implement processes and procedures that will enable them to integrate most preconstruction programmes and performance reporting in areas such as design planning and procurement. All the while developing and nurturing business relationships and driving best practice across the business internally. A willingness to travel across UK is also required.

As Planning Consultant / Senior Planning Consultant you will:

  • Support clients in the delivery of scopes of work, performance specifications and client requirements via the development of integrated schedules;
  • Plan work for major design and construction development projects through working collaboratively with the key disciplines to set the project baseline;
  • Coordinate and define the key interfaces / give – get handoffs between the various disciplines;
  • Set project milestones, monitor progress, review delivery performance, and report performance to the wider project team.
  • Implement schedule-led contract administration (typically NEC 3 or 4) to control the configuration of the baseline and ensure the scope of work will deliver the project outcomes.

About you:

With a bachelor’s degree / master’s degree in either an engineering or construction discipline, you will be knowledgeable in and have experience of heavy civils projects, infrastructure programmes, and / or complex heavily serviced buildings. To aid you with this, experience in general building construction would be advantageous along with the ability to transfer skills and knowledge from one sector to another.

You will have:

  • Experience of MS Projects, Power Project or Primavera P6 (including resource and cost  loading ideally)
  • Knowledge and ability to plan and monitor various processes at different stages of the project’s lifecycle
  • Detailed knowledge of planning complex interfaces across multiple projects
  • Security clearance or be suitable for passing UK Security clearance screening
  • A working knowledge of quantitative schedule risk analysis (QSRA) would be advantageous – though not essential
  • Flexibility to be at customer site in Cumbria at least three days per week


Please note this is a permanent role – you can expect:

  • Salary depending on experience and qualification:
  • Consultant: £36k – £48k

    Senior Consultant: £49k – £75k plus car allowance

    Principal Consultant: £77-90k plus car allowance
  • Stakeholder pension with company contribution up to 5%
  • Death in service benefit and health insurance
